KIEV, December 22 (Itar-Tass) —— The gas negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are at a deadlock, Ukraine’s Prime Minister told the country’s government on Wednesday.
Ukraine’s the Internet-based Mirror of Week refers to a source in the government as saying that Azarov stressed that the cessions, the Russian side is demanding in exchange for lowering gas prices, “are too high and unacceptable for Ukraine.”
“President Viktor Yanukovich has made a decision to present to the parliament a draft budget with the gas price of 416 dollars per a thousand cubic metres,” the prime minister said.
According to the Mirror of Week, the government hopes that gas agreements may be reached in January.
