KIEV, December 21 (Itar-Tass) — Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich is confident that gas talks with Russia will produce a favorable result.
“We must settle that issue and we will settle it,” the president said, stressing that economic conditions in Ukraine are aggravated by “unfavorable gas contracts”.
At a government session on Wednesday, Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said Kiev and Moscow have failed so far to coordinate key parameters in gas talks. He noted that the regular round of talks between the leadership of the two countries was held on Tuesday, and “one more step towards bringing positions closer” was made.
