Putin, Azarov discuss terms for delivery of RF gas to Ukraine

Terms for the deliveries of Russian gas to the neighbouring republic will be the main subject of discussion

NOVO-OGARYOVO, December 21 (Itar-Tass) — Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has begun talks with his Ukrainian counterpart, Nikolai Azarov, who arrived in Moscow on Tuesday for a working visit.

The press service of the Ukrainian government announced that Azarov was planning "to discuss matters concerning bilateral cooperation, the implementation of joint projects in the outgoing year, and plans for next year".

However, it is expected that terms for the deliveries of Russian gas to the neighbouring republic will be the main subject of discussion.

Putin, in his opening remarks at the talks stated the need to develop the investment component of trade-and-economic cooperation between Russia and Ukraine.

Deputy Head of the Governmen Staff Yuri Ushakov and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller are taking part in the talks on the Russian side. Subsequently, the talks were continued without the participation of the press.
