Unidentified men attack Rossiya 24 TV channel filming team

MOSCOW, December 21 (Itar-Tass) — Unidentified men have attacked a filiming team of the Rossiya (Russia) 24 TV channel here on Tuesday night, injuring the team's sound-producer.

Announcement to this effect, posted at the website of the Vesti-Moscow television channel, reads, "One of the filming teams of our television channel has experienced an unexpected incident on Tuesday night. Correspondent Arkady Tsiryulnikov was preparing a report for a broadcast dealing with the operation of legal taxis but encountered an unexpected obstacle -- private guards in the yard of the house where the filming was being done".

The people who identified themselves as "checkers" attacked the cameraman and his assistant. The conflict was started out by the people wearing the uniform of private guards in the house yard at 21 Krasnaya Presnya Street. The team's sound-producer was injured as a result of the attack.

According to the journalists' colleagues, the "checkers" are not members of the personnel of an official guarding enterprise. Police now mull instituting criminal proceedings. The filming was being done in a public place with the provisions of the Law on the Media being observed, the television channel's correspondents pointed out.
