FSB prevents terrorist attack in Altai Territory

The detained dynamiter had carefully planned his attack, looking for accomplices on the Internet

BARNAUL, December 20 (Itar-Tass) — Federal Security Service Agents prevented a terrorist attack in the Altai Territory, the regional FSB department told Itar-Tass on Tuesday. A former contract serviceman who had made a bomb using gunpowder and metal destructive agents was detained in Biisk, the second largest town in the region.

"He planned to set off the bomb in a public place," the regional FSB department said.

No other details were immediately available.

The regional FSB department said it had seized 5.5 kilograms of TNT, 12 liters of nitroglycerine (equivalent to 28 kilograms of TNT), more than three kilograms of ammonite and 17 ammonite charges, seven grenades, more than 4,000 round of various ammunition, and some 30 units of firearms and spares in 2011.

According to Biisk police, the detained dynamiter had been found insane and that he had carefully planned his attack, looking for accomplices on the Internet.
