BEIJING, December 19 (Itar-Tass) —China supports Russia’s draft resolution on Syria presented at the UN Security Council on December 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin told a briefing on Monday.
“China appreciates Russia’s efforts aimed at resolving the crisis in Syria,” the diplomat said. “The discussion of the Syrian crisis at the UN Security Council should help to resolve the situation and to restore peace and stability in the region.”
“China keeps a close watch on the situation in that country and welcomes efforts of the League of Arab States aimed at promoting a political dialogue in Syria and preventing external interference,” Liu said.
“China hopes that the Syrian issue will be resolved within the framework of the League of Arab States,” he said
