MOSCOW, December 19 (Itar-Tass) —— The situation is returning to normal in Kazakhstan after the mass disorders. Hooligans are isolated. Work is underway to restore the destroyed buildings, the republic's Defence Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov told Itar-Tass on Monday after the CSTO meeting.
"I can say that hooligan elements are isolated. The population is in a calm state," he assured. "Work is underway to restore the destroyed buildings and normalize the situation on the whole."
According to the Kazakh Prosecutor-General's Office, the death toll from the mass disorders in the west of the country rose to 15. Fourteen people died in the city of Zhanaozen and one received a fatal bullet wound at the railway station of Shetpe on the night to Sunday.
