VLADIVOSTOK, December 19 (Itar-Tass) —— A rescue boat and two life rafts were found in the area of the Sea of Okhotsk, where the Kolskaya oilrig sank. The Magadan icebreaker spotted the boat, the An-74 emergency airplane noticed the life rafts. The icebreaker examined the boat and did not find people inside. The closest vessel is dispatched to the life rafts, the press service of the Far Eastern regional emergency situation centre reported.
During the storm all boats were washed away from the oilrig. On Sunday, when the oilrig capsized and sank, the reports came that no people onboard the Kolskaya oilrig managed to evacuate on the life rafts.
Some 14 people were saved from 67 people onboard the oilrig. Four of them were airlifted by helicopter on Sunday to the local hospital in Nogliki. Seven rescued crewmen are staying onboard the Neftegaz-55 tugboat en route to the port Korsakov. The Magadan icebreaker is carrying three rescued crewmen. The search operation continues in the centre of the Sea of Okhotsk.
