Communist Party rally attended by Just Russia members

The rally in the Manezhnaya Square gathered several thousands of people

MOSCOW, December 18 (Itar-Tass) — The rally of the Russian Communist Party in the Manezhnaya Square “For Honest Elections” was addressed by deputy of the sixth State Duma Dmitry Gudkov, a member of the Just Russia Party.

He backed the demand for resignation of CEC head Vladimir Churov and called on Communists to pool efforts in the second round of presidential elections.

“Thank you for the invitation. I knew that the Russian Communist Party (KPRF) is a hospitable party,” he addressed rally participants. He also expressed joy that “our opposition parties start meeting each other halfway”. He said that observers from Just Russia and the KPRF prevented putting false ballot papers into ballot boxes on December 4 at the elections to the State Duma at polling stations.

He also backed the demand of Communists to sack head of the Central Election Commission Churov.

“Indeed, we don’t have a single candidate at the presidential elections. But we have time to brace for the run-off. We should pool our efforts in the second round,” Gudkov said with conviction.

The deputy fastened a white ribbon on his coat. He said that he pinned it at the rally in the Bolotnaya Square where non-party citizens gathered. However, the white ribbon provoked discontent among some rally participants; they shouted out: “Take it off”.

The rally in the Manezhnaya Square gathered several thousands of people; they spoke against the results of the State Duma elections.

Addressing the gathering, KPRF leader Gennady Zyuganov said that “there were no such dirty and obnoxious elections over the past 20 years; the most dirty technologies, humiliation and fabrications were exploited”.

According to Zyuganov, courts already received 1,500 applications. “All who stole votes, usurped power, are state criminals. They will be punished; they will answer for this. They are utter scoundrels,” thundered Zyuganov.

He also announced that Communists demand resignation not only of CEC chairman Churov, but also of the entire commission. According to the Communist leader, regional commissions should be formed from representatives of all political parties.

Flags of the Russian Federation, the Soviet Union and the Union of Communist Youth fluttered in the square. Some rally participants came with Zyuganov portraits who was nominated on Saturday as a presidential candidate by the KPRF congress. Some bear badges with crossed emblem of United Russia.
