Russia returns toxic peanuts to China

It said the batch of peanuts was stopped at Zabaikalsk railway checkpoint as “it contained cadmium toxic element”

ULAN UDE, December 17 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian border guards seized 120 tons of toxic peanuts from China and returned them back to the country of origin, the Rosselkhoznadzor food quality watchdog in TransBaikalia told Tass on Saturday.

It said the batch of peanuts was stopped at Zabaikalsk railway checkpoint as “it contained cadmium toxic element.”

“To prevent the penetration to the Russian territory of dangerous food imported by a Moscow-based company the batch of peanuts was returned to the exporter country – the PRC,” it said.
