MOSCOW, December 16 (Itar-Tass) —— Billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, who has declared his presidential ambitions, says the minimal goal of his election campaign is the establishment of a new liberal party.
“Whenever I make a decision, I always seek maximal results,” he said, implying his aspiration for presidency. “My minimal task is the unification of people and the creation of a floor to advocate humanist, liberal, right-wing values and to form a strong party. I believe that such values will dominate in the next decade. Any opportunity must be used for accelerating this process,” he said.
Prokhorov said he had not formed his election staff. He said he would draw Right Cause sponsors in the funding of his election campaign. By law the election fund cannot be larger than 400 million rubles. “The law prohibits a candidate’s personal contribution to exceed 40 million rubles. I will make this donation, and I have a large number of supporters who collected 800 million rubles when I chaired the Right Cause party. I hope they will back me up again,” he said.
