Putin demands web cameras at all polling stations by presidential election

"I realize that the mission is not easy from the technical point of view. However, our task is to equip 100% of polling stations," he said

MOSCOW, December 16 (Itar-Tass) —— Web cameras must be installed at all polling stations by the Russian presidential election of March 2012, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told newly appointed Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Communications and Mass Media Minister Igor Shchyogolev on Friday.

“I realize that the mission is not easy from the technical point of view. However, our task is to equip 100% of polling stations,” he said.

Putin suggested the installation of web cameras at polling stations in a Q&A session on Thursday. The monitoring must be done during the ballot and the count of votes, he said.

“Funds may be assigned under the IT Society program, and there is no need to amend the budget law,” Siluanov said.
