UNITED NATIONS, December 15 (Itar-Tass) — UN Security Council has gathered for consultations on the Middle East at Russia’s request, well-informed diplomatic sources told Itar-Tass.

Members of the Security Council are discussing the situation in Syria behind the closed doors.

Following the principle of rotating presidency adopted on the Council, Russia is holding it there in December.
