During the debates the delegations of South Ossetia and Abkhazia stressed anew the need for work to define the state border with Georgia

TSKHINVAL, December 15 (Itar-Tass) —— The South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva debates on security and stability in the Transcaucasia suggested its variant of the agreement on non-use of force, says the press release drafted on the basis of the results of the 18th round of the debates circulated here on Thursday.

The document says that “the South Ossetian delegation paid special attention to the need for more active work to draft a legally-binding document on non-use of force registering Georgia’s refusal from the use of force against South Ossetia and envisaging guarantees of security.” “The Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia suggested their own drafts,” the document says.

During the debates the delegations of South Ossetia and Abkhazia stressed anew the need for work to define the state border with Georgia.

“It was noted that even though the situation remains stable, violations of the state border, also by Georgian drones, persist,” the document says.

Special attention was given to the fact of South Ossetian missing citizens. Pointing out new facts of people missing from 2008, the South Ossetian representatives demanded stepped up effort to establish what happened to them and stressed that this problem should be put on the agenda of the subsequent meetings as a permanent item.

The next round of the Geneva debates is scheduled for March 28-29, 2012. Taking part in the debates are the delegations of Russia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Georgia, United States, as well as representatives of the United Nations, European Union and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
