MOSCOW, December 15 (Itar-Tass) — Russian president’s chief of staff Sergei Naryshkin and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhurov have opted to take seats in the newly elected State Duma.

According to the Central Election Commission, which is to register members of the new parliament on Thursday, their names are on the list of lawmakers of the sixth State Duma.

Naryshkin was at the top of the ruling United Russia party’s list in the Leningrad region, and Zhukov topped such list in the Kaliningrad region.

Under the Russian election law, within five days after the announcement of official election results, people who were elected to the national parliament are either waive their mandates or to submit documents certifying that they are quitting their current jobs they are not allowed to have in the capacity of a parliament member. The five-day term has expired, and the Central Election Commission on Thursday is to register members of the new parliament.
