Belarus may save up to $4B with lower prices for RF oil and gas

Belarus will save "over three, or maybe even four billion dollars with lowered prices for Russia’s oil and gas supplied to the republic"

MINSK, December 15 (Itar-Tass) —— Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko said that his country may save 3-4 billion dollars with cheaper supplies of energy resources from Russia.

“We are still negotiating prices for energy resources, but it is clear they will not be what they used to be earlier,” he said on Thursday.

Belarus will save “over three, or maybe even four billion dollars with lowered prices for Russia’s oil and gas supplied to the republic,” he said.

The president pointed to high import share in the country’s economy, which was one of the major reasons of the problems in the currency-financial market.

“One of the reasons of shortage of currency is the high share of import in our economy,” he said. All revenues from export are spent for payment of import.
