MOSCOW, December 13 (Itar-Tass) —— The Moscow police are studying the biography of 27-year-old Alexei Arbuzov who stabbed ten pedestrians in the city on December 9.
Two victims died and four are in serious condition, Viktor Tsyplenkova from the Russian Investigation Committee’s Moscow department told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
The man was initially identified as a resident of Shatura, Moscow region, but it appeared that he was born in Neryungri, Yakutia, and resettled to Moscow in 2008. The man told the police he was not married and had no job.
“The suspect stabbed pedestrians with a knife on his way from 30, Korneichuk Street to 42, Korneichuk Street for hooliganism reasons. He pleaded not guilty. The court sentenced his arrest on December 10. Psychiatrists will examine the suspect soon,” she said.
The stabber was charged with killing two people and attempting the killing of another eight. A child whose mother was stabbed right before his eyes got a psychological trauma.
The city police said earlier that the attacks were perpetrated near a pharmacy and suspected the man of being a drug addict seeking strong medicines. The police also said he was on the books of a local mental health center.
