UFA, December 13 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan (Bashkiria) expects to attract next year about one billion rubles from the federal budget for the development of domestic tourism, republic’s president Rustem Khamitov, said on Tuesday.
“We have very beautiful spots in Bashkortostan – steppes with clean lakes, not very high and covered with forests Urals Mountains, mountain rivers for rafting, as well as places for medical treatment and recreation and kumiss (mare’s milk) treatment. We expect this will be interesting both for Russian and foreign tourists,” the head of the republic said.
Within the framework of a large-scale program, a pilot project for the development of social tourism has been launched in Bashkiria this year. Over 3,000 veterans and pensioners have already become its participants. They have visited on travel packages Kazan, St. Petersburg or Turkey.
Elderly travelers paid only 4,000 to 5,000 rubles, which is one third of the cost. To compensate these costs, the republic’s budget has earmarked over 39 million rubles. Next year, twice as much is planned.
Khamitov also said that the republican government had initiated to host the first all-Russia seminar for the development of social tourism. It is due in Ufa before the end of the year. According to the president, the republic seeks to create a major tourism cluster in the future.
