MOSCOW, December 11 (Itar-Tass) — The number of officially registered unemployed persons grew by 1 percent in Russia over the past two weeks, according to the Health and Social Development Ministry.
“From March till the middle of November a downward trend in officially registered jobless citizens was reported - a decrease by 0.8 percent per week on the average,” the source said.
As of November 16 a significant growth of seasonal unemployment that is annually observed in the autumn period was registered.
At present, the number of Russia’s unemployed persons totals 1.22 million. At the end of November of 2010 their number reached 1.5 million, down by around 300,000.
The unemployment growth rates are fixed in 65 Russian regions, including those in the republics of North Ossetia-Alania and Altai, the Amur region and the Altai Territory. The unemployment showed some declining trends in 17 regions. The maximum decline was registered in Chuvashia, Chechnya, Karachai-Cherkessia and Buryatia.
From the beginning of October 2008 the total number of dismissed workers in the country reached 2.049 million, of them 641,100 found jobs through employers’ assistance.
