MOSCOW, December 10 (Itar-Tass) —— The representation rate of the State Duma elected on December 4 will first the first time reach 95 percent, CEC chief Vladimir Churov said.
“Ninety five percent of the voters can see the candidates they cast ballots for in the State Duma,” he said, adding that was precisely the share of the electorate that voted for the four parties having seats in the 6th State Duma.
“The previous Duma’s representation rate was a little below 92 percent. Ninety five percent is above the European average,” Churov said, adding that in some European parliaments the interests of 30, 40 or even 49 percent of voters were not represented.
“I can speculate that the further development of the political system in Russia and of the electoral system of Russia will be aimed at ensuring the maximum respect for the interests of the five percent of the voters whose interests are not represented in the State Duma,” the CEC chief said.
