Putin’s election headquarters to be in Novy Arbat

Putin’s election headquarters to be headed by Govorukhin

MOSCOW, December 8 (Itar-Tass) — Vladimir Putin’s election headquarters will be situated in the building of the Moscow Mayor Office in Novy Arbat Street, the prime minister’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said on Thursday following a meeting of the Federal Coordination Council of the All-Russian Popular Front.

“The headquarters will be located in this building /at the Mayor Office in Novy Arbat/, and the mentioned personalities and technical staff will be working here, too,” he said.

Peskov explained that the headquarters will be using the offices, which are rented by organisations supporting the Front. Thus, the headquarters will be using “the ideological and material base of the Front.”

He stressed that the headquarters will be following strictly the calendar of the election campaign. The very idea to organise the headquarters not as a purely technical structure, but as a working part of the Popular Front is very extraordinary, the press secretary said.

“The Front itself is not limited in its activities by the time frame of the election campaign, where it is parliamentary of presidential one,” Peskov said. “The fact that now we shall be working with these symbolic figures, will help us reach one of the major objectives – to consolidate the society.”

Invitations to join the election headquarters of Vladimir Putin were unexpected for most of those invited, prime minister’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said following the meeting of a Federal Coordination Council of the All-Russian Popular Front on Thursday.

“Realistically, for most of them the invitations were unexpected,” he said. “With Govorukhin there were preliminary agreements.”

Peskov added that before talking to media, all those people should get into the swing of things. Besides, they will have to forum up technically the headquarters.

“Besides these well-known personalities, which will be involved in contacts with the electorate, the headquarters will have technical staff to provide its work in compliance with the election legislation,” Peskov added.

As for Stanislav Govorukhin, he will have to “learn closer the programme ideas on various directions and to talk directly to the candidate more actively,” he said.
