MOSCOW, December 8 (Itar-Tass) — Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC) asked the Investigative Committee to check the election day trailers placed on the Internet, CEC chairman Vladimir Churov said on Thursday.
The trailers will be examined for signs of provocation and fraud. "If such signs are found, we’ll do everything to punish the authors, their sponsors and the masterminds," Churov warned.
"If the trailers indeed show election violations, the authorities will take measures envisioned by legislation," the CEC chairman said.
The CEC will forward the relevant request to the SK and interior bodies shortly.
"Although many videos and photos placed on the Internet do not specifically indicate violations at the December 4 election, we decided to study all the causes behind the appearance of such materials," he added.
