MOSCOW, December 7 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia will adequately respond to the deployment of a missile defense system in Europe, the chief of Russia’s General Staff, Nikolai Makarov, said, while answering questions of foreign military attaches accredited in Moscow on Wednesday.
Asked if the military reform, which had been underway since 2008, would be adjusted, Makarov said, “We are closely studying all threats to Russia’s security, both existing and hypothetical. If necessary, we shall respond to their changes.”
The way he put it, “our chief concern is connected with the deployment of the US and NATO missile defense in Europe.”
“We shall be adequately responding to the threats involved,” he said.
