BELOKURIKHA, Altai territory, December 6 (Itar-Tass) —— The tourism industry in Russia grows by 7% per year, deputy head of the Federal Tourism Agency Grigory Sarishvili said at an international conference in the Altai territory on Tuesday.

He said a third of Russians preferred spending their vacations at health resorts. “Health resorts are gaining popularity. Health resorts in certain regions are booked fully all the year round,” Sarishvili said.

He said that the main problems of the tourism industry were the shortage of skilled personnel and the price-quality ratio.

The three-day conference was organized by the Russian Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy, the Federal Tourism Industry, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Altai territorial administration.

The conference will discuss ways to promote health resorts and the recreational potential of the Altai territory. The delegates will be given a tour of local health resorts and the Biryuzovaya Katun tourism and recreation zone.
