KIEV, December 6 (Itar-Tass) — Ukraine’s Naftogaz has expressed confidence that an opportunity to pay for Gazprom’s gas exports in roubles will contribute to ensuring its financial stability.

Moreover, this also “would expand the company’s opportunities for attracting credit resources,” the Ukrainian gas company’s press service said on Tuesday.

On Monday, Naftogaz and Russia’s gas giant Gazprom signed an additional agreement to the gas purchase contract for 2009-2019, under which Ukraine will be able to pay for Russian gas exports in roubles.

Earlier, it paid for the consumed fuel only in U.S. dollars.
