Explosive device defused near Interior Ministry in Penza

MOSCOW, December 5 (Itar-Tass) —— A powerful explosive device has been rendered harmless in Penza. It was planted near the building of the Experts and Criminalists Centre of the Department of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Penza Region, ITAR-TASS learnt at the regional law enforcement bodies.

“At night on December 4, police officers found a homemade explosive device in Plekhanov Street in the Zheleznodorozhny district,” the source said. “It consisted of a cardboard box filled with a mixture of ammoniac nitrate and aluminium powder, and a homemade detonator.”

The power of the bomb was equivalent to two kilograms of TNT.

Suppers defused the explosive device. Investigation is underway.
