MOSCOW, December 4 (Itar-Tass) —— The State Duma elections ended in the Siberian Federal District. The polling stations were the last to close at 5 p.m. Moscow time on Sunday in the Altai Republic, the Altai Territory, the Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk and Tomsk Regions.

Though the final reports on the turnout in Siberian regions were not made yet, there are some grounds to believe that the turnout is lower in many Siberian regions than in 2007.

The turnout in Buryatia reached 48% as of 6 p.m., 40.37% in the Irkutsk Region. These figures differ greatly from the turnout in 2007, when the turnout has made 53.5% by 7 p.m. in the region.

The turnout reached 32% as of 3 p.m. in the Sverdlovsk Region, 44.92% in Altai. The final turnout reached 68.33% in the Republic of Altai four years ago, meanwhile, the turnout exceeded 48% by 2 p.m., the press service of the republican government told Itar-Tass.

Though in Tuva, the turnout reached 70.68% by 6 p.m. local time, according to the republican election committee that is close to the turnout four years ago, the republican election committee told Itar-Tass. The final turnout in Tuva in 2007 exceeded 70% and was found a record turnout in the republic for all past years. So, this record was broken. Meanwhile, it should be noted that these figures are only preliminary and the final turnouts will be made public by the Central Election Commission later.

The average turnout in Russia reached 41.9% as of 3 p.m. Moscow time, the Central Election Commission reported. The highest turnout was reported in Chukotka and the republics of the North Caucasus.
