MOSCOW, December 2 (Itar-Tass) —— A woman in the town of Balashikha to the east of Moscow, whose two children were found dead, has admitted that she killed them and her husband because of an acute shortage of money and an absence of incentives for living.
The woman, 46, was taken to the local Investigations Department Friday from hospital to file a written acknowledgment of guilt, Irina Gumennaya, a spokesperson for the Moscow Regional Investigations Department told Itar-Tass.
“The woman said she had committed the murders as she did not have the money for subsistence or incentives for living in general,” Gumennaya said.
“On the day of the crime, she secretly gave hypnotic pills to the children and the husband. After they fell asleep she pulled plastic bags over their heads. Then she took the pills herself.”
“The necessary investigative actions are underway at the moment and the operatives are clearing out all the circumstances pertaining to the crime,” Gumennaya said.
She refrained from going into details on how the malefactor woman had managed to survive.
The bodies of two children – an eight-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl – and the body of their father were found December 1 in an apartment on Julius Fucik Street in Balashikha.
The mother of the family was alive but heavily intoxicated with psychotropic medicines and alcohol. She was taken to central district general hospital.
“Investigators have instituted a criminal case based on charges of a murder of two or more persons, including the underage ones,” a source at the Investigations Committee said earlier.
As the operatives examined the area around the apartment block, they found three disposed plastic bags with remainders of an adhesive tape on their outer surface.
“It has been established that the three people died ten to seven days ago,” the source said.
