YEKATERINBURG, December 2 (Itar-Tass) —— Investigators said bad weather and faulty equipment could be the reasons for a car crash that killed one man and badly injured Sverdlovsk regional Governor Alexander Misharin on Thursday.

Head of the Investigative Committee for Sverdlovsk region Valery Zadorin told reporters on Friday there was ice on the road while heavy snow decreased visibility.

“While we drove 200 kilometers to the site of the crash we saw several other accidents,” he said.

Chauffeur-driven Mercedes of Misharin collided with a Volga sedan on Yekaterinburg-Serov road near the city of Krasnouralsk. The 67-year old Volga driver was killed in the crash, while Misharin and his driver were hospitalized into an intensive care ward in Yekaterinburg. A Skoda car was also hit in the accident, but the people inside were not injured.
