TSKHINVAL, December 1 (Itar-Tass) – Supporters of former South Ossetian candidate for presidency, Alla Dzhioyeva, will stay in front of the building of the South Ossetian government headquarters on Tskhinval’s Theater Square overnight to Friday, Alan Pliyev, also a former candidate for presidency told Itar-Tass Thursday.
“Although more consultations with the Russian government representatives have been scheduled for tomorrow, people have no plans of going away,” he said.
The protesters, who support Dzhioyeva’s claim that she won the second round of the presidential election last Sunday and hence is the legitimate president-elect of the young country, have put up camps on the square.
The air temperature in the city sank to minus 5 C after dusk and the protesters are warming themselves up by the campfires they have made.
The forces of law and order are guarding the Government Building along the perimeter, and a big number of armed guards are positioned inside, too.
