ANKARA, December 1 (Itar-Tass) – Russian-Turkish talks on cooperation in the field of crude oil and natural gas that were initially scheduled for December 2 have been postponed, officials at the press service of Turkey’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources told Itar-Tass Thursday.

“The visit of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Taner Yildiz, to Russia has been put off due to an unexpected change in the operating agenda of Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin,” a spokesman said.

Taner Yildiz will spend the next few days making business trips inside the country, he said,

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources says in an official statement in this connection that Sechin and Yildiz will have talks in the week after the Russian parliamentary election, scheduled for December 4.

A Russian source close to the talks told Itar-Tass earlier the Russian and Turkish delegations were going to discuss a prolongation of the contract for the pumping of Russian gas along the western corridor and the issuance of permission for laying the South Stream gas pipeline in Turkey’s territorial waters.
