Every day 7thousand get infected with AIDS in the world

Over these decades, AIDS has killed over 25 million and over 60 million people got infected with HIV, 16 million people remain parentless

MOSCOW, December 1 (Itar-Tass) —— December 1 is the World AIDS Day.

“For three decades the AIDS epidemic has been developing throughout the world, having turned into a huge pandemic which claims enormous economic damage, destabilises social and political situation in many countries of the world, affects economic growth and prevents achievement of the Millennium Development Goals /MDGs/, as well as goals in healthcare and other spheres,” Russia’s consumer rights watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, said in its report.

Over these decades, AIDS has killed over 25 million and over 60 million people got infected with HIV, 16 million people remain parentless. Every day over 7,000 get infected, including one thousand children. At the same time, the organisation stresses “big progress in response measures to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.”

Russia’s regions will organise on Thursday roundtables, briefings, festivals of volunteers who work on synteresis of AIDS, lectures, and discussions.
