Nat'l Philharmonic Orchestra to tour major German cities

NPOR is referred to as the "musical symbol of new Russia" and "Ambassador of Culture"

MOSCOW, November 30 (Itar-Tass) — Russia's National Philharmonic Orchestra (NPOR) under the baton of Vladimir Spivakov, artistic director and chief conductor, goes on a guest tour of major cities and legendary halls of Germany. Performances begin in Cologne on Wednesday, a member of the world-famous performing collective has told Itar-Tass.

Played in the first concert will be Night on the Bare Mountain by Mussorgsky, Concerto for Violin with Orchestra by Mendelssohn, Suite from the music of the ballet Sleeping Beauty, and a fantasy overture Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky. Maesro Spivakov will conduct the Orchestra and violinist Sergei Dogadin will act a soloist.

NPOR concerts will be also held in Gutersloh, Eindhoven, Erlangen, Duesseldorf, Friedrichshafen, Regensburg, Munich, and Stuttgart. The guest tour will come to aclose on December 12 in Leverkusen.

Invited to participate in NPOR concerts as soloists are high-class performers, such as pianists Olga Kern and Nikolai Tokarev, cellist Gauthier Capucon, etc. Concert programs also include works by Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Saint-Saens, and Liszt. All the concerts will be played under Sivakov's baton.

German audiences were first able to appreciate the high artistic level of NPOR's performing skills in 2007 during the Orchestra's first long guest tour of of Europe. NPOR goes on guest tours of European countries every year and regularly participates in summer European festivals. German music lovers invariably evince intersts in NPOR performances: the Orchestra's concerts in that country are given to capacity audiences.
