MOSCOW, November 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s twelve north-western settlements remain without electricity, EMERCOM’s information department said on Tuesday.

Complicated weather conditions on Monday – wet snow and gusty wind – cut off electricity in eight regions’ 403 settlements, where 17 are in Tatarstan, 58 – in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 49 – in the Leningrad Region, six – in the Vologda Region, 93 – in the Pskov Region, 39 – in the Kaliningrad Region, 162 – in the Kostroma Region and seven in Karelia.

“In most settlements electricity supplies were renewed within the day,” the source said. “As yet, eleven settlements and villages in the Kaliningrad Region and one settlement in Karelia still remain without electricity.”

Overcoming the consequences of the unfavourable weather conditions continues. Specialists monitor electricity networks, repair damaged roofs and remove fallen trees from roads.

“The emergency and repairing works involve 620 specialists and 189 vehicles,” EMERCOM said.
