TSKHINVAL, November 28 (Itar-Tass) — The Central Election Commission of South Ossetia has announced the preliminary results of the voting in the presidential elections in South Ossetia. After the vote counting at 74 out of 85 polling stations, Alla Dzhioyeva leads with 56. 7 percent of votes she received in the runoff presidential elections, while her rival Anatoly Bibilov has got 40 percent of votes in his support, the Central Election Commission said.
Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Bella Pliyeva said that the counting was made on the basis of data reported from polling stations by telephone. No official protocols have arrived from the polling stations yet, the CEC chairperson said.
Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court of South Ossetia had prohibited the Central Election Commission from announcing the results of the runoff presidential elections. Chairman of the Supreme court Atsamaz Bichenov said that the Unity party lodged a complaint with the Supreme Court against illegal activities of supporters of presidential candidate Alla Dzhioyeva and the inertia of the Central Election Commission which did not cut short the violations. The court will meet Monday to look into the complaint, and it will pass its resolution on the same day, Bichenov said. The facts mentioned in the complaint include incidents of voters' bribery, pressure on voters and illegal canvassing during the vote, the Supreme Court chairman said.
Alla Dzhioyeva stated that “on Sunday, all observers and members of the Central Election Commission said that the election was held normally except a few insignificant working nuances." She appealed to her opponent, Anatoly Bibilov, asking him "to demonstrate his civic position, come out and acknowledge his defeat with dignity."
Dzhioyeva quoted the data submitted by her election headquarters about the results of vote counting from all the 85 polling stations in South Ossetia. Dzhioyeva claims she has received approximately 58.9 percent of votes - - 16, 574 voters supported her, while her rival Anatoly Bibilov - - 10, 972 votes.
