Russia to give firm response to external support to domestic political forces - Kosachyov

Putin warned on Sunday everyone trying to influence the outcome of the Russian elections that it would be a waste of time

MOSCOW, November 27 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia will give a firm response to the external support to particular political forces in Russia, Chairman of the State Duma International Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachyov said after the United Russia congress on Sunday.

“In the unanimous opinion of our foreign colleagues, the congress procedures complied with the universal and world best standards of the formation of election programs and the nomination of a party candidate for the top national position,” he said.

Obviously, far from all in the world are happy with that. “Vladimir Putin has said that we are experiencing colossal pressure. It is not about the fostering of democratization and the provision of electoral rights and freedoms of our citizens. It is about support to particular political forces in this country, which is not assistance but interference in internal affairs of Russia. This interference will not be tolerated, and our response will be firm,” he said.

“In the end, the international community will recognize results of the parliamentary election campaign and the presidential election campaign,” he said. The election results are apparent and predictable, although “a big political struggle is ahead,” he noted.

In the opinion of Kosachyov, the results will contribute to global stability. “Russia was, is and will be a reliable and transparent partner for all who pursue the same values as Russia in the provision of international stability and security,” he said.

Putin, who was nominated for president at the United Russia congress on Sunday, warned everyone trying to influence the outcome of the Russian elections that it would be a waste of time and offered to pool efforts in the suppression of modern threats and challenges.
