Russia’s, China’s positions on global problems close to Iran’s – Ahmadinedjad

Earlier, he said no sanctions against Iran would make him give up the nuclear program, and labeled attempts to freeze Iranian foreign assets as "robbery"

TEHRAN, November 27 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s and China’s positions on global problems are close to those of Iran, Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinedjad told the Iranian Jaam-e-Jam television channel late on Saturday.

“Iran, Russia and China are on one bloc. Russia’s and China’s positions on many international problems are much closer to us than the position upheld by the United States and its allies,” he said.

According to the Iranian president, Iran’s goal is to develop nuclear power engineering rather than to create an A-bomb. “Iran is not seeking to make a nuclear bomb, and it is obvious for the entire world. Our goal is to master peaceful nuclear technologies to develop economy, such its sectors as power engineering, medicine, industry and agriculture. Regrettably, some states seek to monopolize advanced technologies and put an equals sign between such notions as ‘nuclear power engineering’ and ‘nuclear bomb’,” he said.

Once again, he reiterated his country’s readiness to continue the negotiating process with the Five plus One group (of international mediators on the Iranian nuclear problem) without any preconditions and based on the principles of fairness and mutual respect.

Touching on new sanctions announced earlier in the week by a number of Western states, Ahmadinedjad noted that these states account for a minor part of Iran’s foreign trade. “Our annual trade turnover is 190 billion U.S. dollars, and Europe account for only 24 billion U.S. dollars,” he said.
