Belarus to pay $164 per 1,000 cubic meters of Russian gas in Jan-March 2012

With the average planned gas price of about $400 per 1,000 cubic meters for European buyers, Belarus will buy gas at $164 per 1,000 cubic meters in the first quarter

NOVO-OGARYOVO, November 25 (Itar-Tass) —— Belarus will pay $164 per 1,000 cubic meters of Russian gas in the first quarter of 2012, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a special meeting of the federal government presidium, which was considering documents for today’s meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Russia-Belarus Union State.

“With the average planned gas price of about $400 per 1,000 cubic meters for European buyers, Belarus will buy gas at $164 per 1,000 cubic meters in the first quarter,” Putin said. “That is quite a discount, which will save no less than $2 billion for the Belarusian economy.”
