Fire extinguished in Novy Urengoi

The fire initially broke out in one tank with a capacity of 700 cubic meters which later collapsed

TYUMEN, November 25 (Itar-Tass) —— The fire in diesel fuel tanks which broke out overnight in the northern city of Novy Urengoi which is considered to be the unofficial Russian gas-producing capital has been extinguished and nobody was injured, the Yamal-Nenets emergency service said on Friday.

The fire initially broke out in one tank with a capacity of 700 cubic meters which later collapsed and the blaze spread to another three tanks with a 200-cubic meter capacity.

Eleven fire engines extinguished the blaze in the tank farm located 18 kilometers from Novy Urengoi.

The causes of the fire are being investigated.
