SOCHI, November 25 (Itar-Tass) —— The host city of the 2014 Winter Olympics will test the constructed facilities by holding skiing competitions in 2012 and 2013, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak told on Thursday International Olympic Committee representatives who inspected the Olympic facilities.
“This year we shall prepare all objects of the mountain cluster for competitions and next year, from May to September, we have to complete the construction of all ice arenas, except for the central stadium,” he said.
In February-March 2012 Sochi will hold test competitions in the main ski events, including Alpine Ski World Cup, freestyle, snowboard, biathlon, and ski race.
“The national and international competitions will help us feel the grandeur of the future sport holiday and also test the personnel and the main Olympic facilities,” Kozak said adding there was no doubt the facilities would be built on time.
