MOSCOW, November 22 (Itar-Tass) — The most advanced security standards should be effective in the transport sector, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told a meeting of the government’s presidium on Tuesday.

“In general, the most advanced security standards should be applied in the transport sector,” he said. “In compliance with these standards it is necessary to organize vocational training, retraining and personnel appraisal.”

Putin added that the relevant legal base has been prepared for this work.

“It is necessary to clear the market from services of shady companies that have no penny to their name – no fleet of vehicles, no specialists. They often ignore security requirements and finally bear no responsibility,” Putin said.

The head of government reiterated that last year the government adopted a comprehensive program for ensuring transport security.
