Ferry link connecting Sakhalin with mainland closed amid storm

The railway in Sakhalin and the airport of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk operate in a routine regime

VLADIVOSTOK, November 21 (Itar-Tass) — The Vanino-Kholmsk ferry link connecting Russia’s Sakhalin with the mainland has been closed because of a storm raging in the north of the Sea of Japan.

The ferry link goes along the Tatar Strait, “where a strong snowstorm and poor visibility are registered at the moment,” weathermen say. Four ferries, each capable to take on board 100 passengers and 26 railway cars, shelter in the ports of Vanino and Sovgavan. The ferry link will be closed for the whole day.
