MOSCOW, November 18 (Itar-Tass) — A minister of the Kamchatka territorial government in Russia’s Far East is suspected of large-scale bribe-taking, a source in local police told Itar-Tass on Friday.
“On November 17, the Kamchatka territory administration of the Russian Investigations Committee opened a criminal case against minister of transport and road construction of the territorial government Vladimir Silyukov,” the source said.
According to investigators, in the period from July 18 to September 28 the man took a bribe of building materials to an overall sum of 970,000 roubles from a top executive of a construction company. In exchange, the official promised to lobby the company during an open tender for a ship building contract to a sum of 422 million roubles.
So far, there is no official comment from investigation authorities.
