Copters, off-road vehicles, sledges for early voting in Buryatia

About 2,500 voters will vote in Buryatia ahead of time

ULAN-UDE, November 18 (Itar-Tass) —— Helicopters, all-terrain vehicles and even sledges harnessed with horses will be dispatched to remote polling stations in Buryatia on Friday. The early voting will start there at the State Duma elections and several municipal elections.

“About 2,500 voters will vote in Buryatia ahead of time. Territorial election committees have charted more than 350 routes to get to hard-to-reach settlements, where 44 polling stations will be set up for the voting,” a source in Buryatia’s election commission told Itar-Tass on Friday.

Border guards, breeders at remote camps, meteorologists, forest rangers, which work in remote districts on the Baikal bank, will participate in the early voting.

More than 1,000 voters in five districts in the Baikal Territory bordering Buryatia will participate in the early voting. Cars and a helicopter Mi-8 are involved in the early voting, a source in the territorial election committee said.
