MOSCOW, November 17 (Itar-Tass) — Chief of Russian General Staff Nikolai Makarov said military conflicts near the Russian borders with the use of nuclear weapons were possible.
Speaking at the debates at the Public Chamber on Thursday, General Makarov said, “Military conflicts near the Russian borders and their escalation, including with the use of nuclear weapons, are possible.”
A risk to draw into local conflicts increased sharply, the chief of the Russian General Staff stressed. “Local conflicts may be escalated, including with the use of nuclear weapons,” the Russian General added.
