Bolshoi demands passports to prevent ticket business for gain

"We decided this is the way to deal with ticket dealers who resell tickets for gain," Iksanov said

MOSCOW, November 16 (Itar-Tass) — Bolshoi Theater has begun to sell theater tickets by passports, Bolshoi Director General Anatoly Iksanov told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

"We decided this is the way to deal with ticket dealers who resell tickets for gain," Iksanov said. Since there is no clause in the Russian Criminal Code punishing dealers who trade theater tickets for gain there was nothing we could do but use our own method", Iksanov said.

"We believe that even if such a method does not help cut short the wretched business it will considerably cut it anyway and liquidate groundless complaints against Bolshoi because of sky-rocketing ticket prices," the Bolshoi director said.
