MOSCOW, November 14 (Itar-Tass) —— The Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) is building up the fire-fighting force against the fire, which broke out onboard the Sergei Abramov motor ship in the Northern Port in Moscow and keeps spreading, chief press officer of the Moscow EMERCOM service Yevgeny Bobylev told Itar-Tass on Monday.
“The number of fire engines increased from 12 to 17. The fire cannot be localized so far. The fire broke out at about 4 a.m. Moscow time on the lower deck and then spread on the engine room.
“The fire hazard was raised from the second to third point on the five-point fire scale. The fire has already spread on 1,500 square meters,” a source in the Moscow law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass.
According to preliminary reports at 6.38 a.m. Moscow time, the fire area has made 200 square meters and the fire was looming to spread on the second and third decks, Bobylev.
Four people were injured in the fire. Some 15 passengers and 16 crewmembers were onboard the motor ship. Seven people were saved, the others got out from the burning motor ship themselves. But the captain affirmed that “the fate of a person is unclear.” The fire service did not confirm this report.
