Sberbank to dismiss about 30,000 employees after modernisation

Modernisation will also increase the average speed of transactions from three days to online regime

MOSCOW, November 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s Sberbank savings bank will dismiss some 30,000 employees after modernisation, the bank’s CEO German Gref said.

The bank currently employs 240,000 people.

Modernisation will also increase the average speed of transactions from three days to online regime.

Gref admitted that computerisation was a big risk and likened it to “operating on a runner’s open heart during a race”.

“But now the best banks come to us as they see that we have gone far ahead,” he added.
