Russian president arrives in Hawaii for APEC summit

In the course of the visit the Russian head of state will attend a summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation organization

HONOLULU, Hawaii, November 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in the United States. His plane landed at the Hickam air base near Honolulu, the administrative center of the state of Hawaii.

In the course of the visit the Russian head of state will attend a summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation organization and hold a number of bilateral meetings and talks, including a meeting with US President Barack Obama.

On the first day Medvedev will have two meetings - with the president of Peru and the prime minister of Australia. Also, he will take part in an informal luncheon with APEC business figures in the house of a local school principal. Earlier, presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich said that the people of Hawaii had demonstrated great responsibility for hosting this major international event and some offered their homes for a number of activities.

Medvedev arrived in Hawai after completing a working tour of the Khabarovsk Territory on November 11. Due the time difference he arrived in Honolulu in the morning of November 11. The local time is 21 hours behind the Khabarovsk time.
