MOSCOW, November 11 (Itar-Tass) —— More than 50 Topol-M and Yars trainers were put into service in the Russian Strategic Rocket Forces in 2011, Forces spokesman Vadim Koval told Itar-Tass on Friday.
He said the trainers were installed in the Teikovo rocket division in the Ivanovo region. The division has two Topol-M regiments and one Yars regiment on combat duty. The Defense Ministry plans that about 30 road-mobile launchers Topol-M and Yars will be on duty in Teikovo by the end of this year.
The Russian Strategic Rocket Forces are armed with seven rocket models of the fourth and fifth generations, including four types based in silos and three road-mobile. Silo-based rockets make up 45% of the assault component of the Forces and carry nearly 85% of the Forces’ nuclear warheads.
